Plaque Unveiled to Honour James Franey
A commemorative plaque was unveiled today in Halliday Square, Stonybatter, by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, marking the life and civic generosity of James Franey, whose donation of land to Dublin Corporation in 1997 created Halliday Park as a lasting public amenity for the people of the city.

Lee Cronin to be honoured with an Oscar Wilde Award
The US-Ireland Alliance has announced that Irish director Lee Cronin will be honoured with an Oscar Wilde Award at the 12 March 2026 event. The annual party will again be held at The Ebell of Los Angeles. It was previously announced that Domhnall Gleeson and Maura Tierney will be honoured, and Irish singer Dave Lofts will perform at what will be the 20th anniversary of the event.
Dublin Film Critics Circle announce annual awards for 2025
The Dublin Film Critics Circle has announced the winners in its poll to determine the best cinematic achievements of 2025. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, an epic blend of horror, music and social history, was the big winner, topping a remarkable five lists: best film, best actor, best screenplay and best cinematography. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another ran Sinners close in several of those races, but, released as far back as April, Coogler’s film looks to have only blossomed in critics’ estimations.
