ITAA welcomes news of Aer Lingus pilots voting in favour of new pay deal

The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has welcomed the news that Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA) pilots at Aer Lingus have voted in favour of the Labour Court’s pay deal, meaning an end to industrial action at the airline.

The Labour Court recommended a 17.75% pay raise for pilots, a recommendation Aer Lingus accepted and IALPA officials recommended its members vote in favour of.  The pilots’ ballot opened on Thursday 18 July and closed today, Tuesday 23 July.

Clare Dunne, CEO of the ITAA said, “It is a good day for the travelling public and we are delighted with the decision by IALPA pilots to accept this pay deal. This is a very positive development for intending travellers and the tourism sector.

“The ITAA have consistently stated that compromise and engagement between IAPLA and Aer Lingus was the way only forward and best for every stakeholder involved, most importantly the customer.”
