Travel Extra Editor wins Business Travel Journalist of the year
Eoghan Corry, Travel Extra Editor and host of the Holiday World Show Travel Clinics was awarded “Business Travel News Journalist of the year” at the Business Travel Journalism Awards 2015 at the Zaha Hadid-designed The Magazine restaurant in the centre of London’s Hyde Park.
Eoghan took the top accolade for his coverage of International Airlines Group’s (IAG) takeover of Aer Lingus in the awards, which were organised by Carlson Wagonlit Travel to celebrate quality media coverage of the business travel, meetings and events industries.
The award’s entries were judged anonymously by a panel of journalists and independent industry experts. The awards, currently in their twelfth year, have become a must-attend event for journalists and industry representatives.
Eoghan said: “To become the first Irish journalist to win against such esteemed international opposition at the Business Travel Journalism Awards is a humbling and extremely gratifying experience. It was particularly satisfying that the judges made their selections without knowing who they were selecting and the decision was unanimous in my favour. I hope I will be followed on to the podium by other Irish travel and business journalists in the coming years.”
Denise Harman, Country Director, Carlson Wagonlit Travel Ireland added: “The awards recognise and reward the individuals who bring their news and stories to life, through striking prose, or inspired broadcasting. Eoghan’s coverage of the Aer Lingus takeover went across all platforms and exemplified these qualities perfectly.”
The Holiday World Show, with Eoghan Corry’s Travel Clinics returns to the RDS Simmonscourt for three days 22-24 January, 2016. For further information, please see www.holidayworldshow.com
