ITAA welcome UK commitment to EU travel arrangements in the event of a no-deal Brexit
Flights will not be affected regardless of Brexit outcome.
The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has welcomed the UK Government’s decision to reciprocate the European Union arrangements for air travel in the event of a no deal Brexit.
This commitment to EU arrangements will allow UK airlines to operate routes to and from the UK and EU member states, with no restrictions to stop in EU countries and fly over EU air space.
Pat Dawson, CEO of the ITAA, said, “We welcome the news from the UK Government today and are pleased to have this certainty in the event of a no-deal exit from the EU. We have seen some hesitation in bookings as prospective travellers have been unsure about the impact this would have on travel to and from the UK.”
Dawson continued, “People looking to book their travel plans can be further reassured that flights will not be impacted and there will be no change to the way we travel, regardless of the Brexit outcome.”
The decision has been provisionally approved and is due to pass a European Parliament vote on Wednesday 13th March, before a final in the European Council to scheduled within the next two weeks.
