Calling all Buskers! Applications are now open for the virtual Busker Fleadh 2020!
Experience the best of independent music and performance, in an electrifying atmosphere at the Busker Fleadh, taking place online for the first time this year on Saturday 3rd and Sunday, 4th October. Organised by Dublin City Council, this FREE family event will showcase some of the most exciting and unique busking acts from across the country, filmed in Meeting House Square in the heart of Temple Bar!
We are looking for a range of bands and solo performers across a wide range of genres and musical styles. From rock to folk to hip hop – whatever you play, the Busker Fleadh would love to receive your application! Simply visit our website, www.buskerfleadh.ie, fill out the application form and tell us a bit about yourself. Applications must be entered before Wednesday 16th September 2020, and successful applicants will be informed by close of business Friday 18th September.
Performances will be shown on the Busker Fleadh Facebook page and YouTube channel over the weekend, with the opportunity for viewers to vote for their favourite acts. Music industry judges will be present on the day to choose their favourite buskers, one group and one solo act. The lucky overall winner of the Busker Fleadh will receive a free recording session at Windmill Lane Studio with a professional sound engineer (valued at €1,000) and will leave with a digital copy of their recordings. If you think you could be in with a chance to win this fantastic prize, apply now!
Busker Fleadh organiser, Kathryn Byrne, said of the event, “When COVID-19 arrived in Ireland last March, we were unsure if this year’s Busker Fleadh could go ahead. The safety of our buskers and attendees is something we take very seriously, so we are delighted to be able to go ahead with the Fleadh virtually via online streaming on Facebook and YouTube. The Busker Fleadh is a great way for upcoming performers to showcase their talents, and for existing acts to raise their profile within the Dublin music scene. Although this year’s event will be slightly different to previous Fleadhs, we are encouraging all performers to get involved and apply to enter.”
