Irish Travel Trade Shows 2020 postponed due to COVID-19

Ireland’s largest Travel Trade Shows postponed to a later date in Cork and Dublin due to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

The decision has been made by the board of the Irish Travel Agent’s Association (ITAA) to postpone this years’ annual Irish Travel Trade Show, which was set to host two shows for the first time this year. The first show was scheduled to take place in The Imperial Hotel, Cork on the 1st of April, and the second in Hotel Riu Plaza, the Gresham Dublin on the 2nd of April.

The ITAA have made the difficult decision to defer both shows due to rising concerns around COVID-19 in Ireland.

These events, organised on behalf of The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) by Business Exhibitions Limited, attract over 100 exhibitors from Ireland and abroad, and over 300 travel trade visitors each year made up of licensed travel agents and their staff.

Pat Dawson, CEO of the ITAA, said, “We’re very disappointed to have to postpone the sixth annual Irish Travel Trade Show in Dublin, and our first show in Cork, which would have opened the show up to travel professionals in the Munster region. However, as always the welfare of our members, suppliers and customers is paramount, and in the interests of safeguarding these groups and others we have decided to delay these events until the risk of COVID-19 has passed.”

He continued, “We hope that we will be able to reschedule both events at a later date, as events such as these are an invaluable opportunity for travel agents and tour operators to network with their fellow professionals and discover the latest in travel innovation, product demonstrations and new customer experiences from both Irish and international exhibitors.”
