AWARD-WINNING IRISH COMEDY APOCALYPSE CLOWN NOW AVAILABLE ON NETFLIX IRELAND & UK

The award-winning Irish comedy APOCALYSPE CLOWN is now available on Netflix in Ireland and the UK.

Directed by Best Comedy BAFTA nominee George Kane and written with Shane O’Brien, James Walmsley and Damian Fox, the film tells the tale of a troupe of failed clowns and an ambitious reporter who embark on a chaotic adventure of self-discovery after a mysterious solar event plunges the world into anarchy.

Speaking about the Netflix release, director George Kane said: “I can’t wait to see our insane film wear the big red N and reach so many screens in time for some pre-Halloween movie nights-in. Get ready to see hoards of Funzos roaming around trick or treating – just don’t call them the s-word…”

Filmed on location in Dublin and Kildare APOCALYPSE CLOWN features hilarious performances from David Earl (Brian & Charles, After Life), Natalie Palamides (Nate — A One Man Show), Amy De Bhrún (The Bachelor Weekend), Fionn Foley (Dublin Oldschool), Tadhg Murphy (Brassic) and Ivan Kaye (Gunpowder Milkshake).

The critically acclaimed film, which picked up the Best Film award at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year has been described as “unrelentingly funny” by the Montreal Times; “cheerfully offbeat… a rocking good time” by Screen Daily; “an insane comedy” by Hollywood Reporter and “an absurdist farce that keeps piling on ridiculous elements and crazy twists of fortune” by The Guardian; “consistently funny and delightfully weird” by the Business Post and is said to “hit the comic beats with immaculate timing” by the Irish Times.

APOCALYPSE CLOWN was produced by Morgan Bushe and James Dean for Fastnet Films (Black 47, What If) in co-production with Namesake Films and Cloé Garbay and Beata Saboova of uMedia. Ed Caffrey and Rupert Preston of Vertigo Releasing, Patrick O’Neill of Wildcard, Celine Haddad of Screen Ireland and John Gleeson and Oisín O’Neill of BCP Asset Management serve as executive producers.

Upcoming festival screenings include the biggest genre film festival in Poland at Splat!FilmFest and its Spanish premiere at FANCINE Fantastic Film Festival. The film’s sales agent Charades have now sold to key territories including Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Germany and India. The film will be released in the US later this year through the Capstone Group.
