Come fly with us at the 2017 Dublin Kite Festival

Dublin’s Annual Kite Fest Launched

The spectacular Dublin Kite Festival returns for its fifth year on Sunday 18th June at North Bull Island, Clontarf. Brought to you by Dublin City Council, this family-favourite event promises an action-packed, colourful and fun day out for all ages to enjoy.

This year’s Dublin Kite Festival will attract visitors from across Ireland and is set to be an invigorating event from start to finish. Visitors will be delighted by the magnificent kite display by expert kite flier, Andrew Beattie, who is travelling to Dublin for the festival.  Kite enthusiasts and amateurs alike will paint the sky of Clontarf with vibrant kites and practice their stunt skills, creating a magnificent sight on the North Bull Island. A number of awards will be presented at the event, including: most aerodynamic kite, most beautiful kite and funniest kite of the day.

Speaking about Dublin Kite Festival 2017, Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Rebecca Moynihan said; “I am delighted to see the Dublin Kite Festival return to Dollymount Strand for its fifth year. Kite flying is an ideal activity in Dublin, especially with our windy weather conditions, and is an ideal activity for both young and old. With free entertainment all day, it’s a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in our Capital!”

Kathryn Byrne, event manager of the Dublin Kite Fest said, “Dublin Kite Festival is a wonderful event; the atmosphere is always upbeat and everyone is always in great spirits. Kite flying is a great family activity, suitable for all ages. Don’t worry if you’ve never flown a kite – or if you can’t remember the last time you did – because there will be plenty of kiting experts on hand to get you off the ground! It’s all about being outside, being active and having fun.”

With lively music, exciting games, kite making workshops, a kite flying competition and buckets of enthusiasm you’re sure to have a great day at Dublin Kite Festival 2017. Let’s go fly a kite!
