Pets in the City

Calling all top-dogs and curious cats, a little birdie told us that Smithfield Square is going to be transformed into a Pet Paradise! The first ever Pets in the City brought to you by Dublin City Council and supported by the DSPCA and King of Paws, will take place on Sunday 9th November in Smithfield Square, Dublin 7.

This free, family friendly event promises to be a great day out for animal lovers living in the city with a range of activities, stalls and entertainment. The DSPCA King of Paws Training Team will host a Dog Show and Dog Agility Workshops, which will invite members of the public to enter their own furry friends.PetsInTheCity04

Pet lovers can expect a range of stalls offering great deals on all kinds of animal accessories, grooming products, toys and novelty items as well as the opportunity to avail of micro-chipping and pet health advice from the DSPCA. A reptile corner, world of birds, fish aquariums and a small animal farm will give visitors the opportunity to interact with, and learn about, all kinds of animals.

Speaking at the launch of Pets in the City, Dublin’s Lord Mayor Christy Burke said, “The people of Dublin are great animal lovers, but it can be difficult juggling city life with pet ownership.  It’s great to have a family friendly pet event in the city.   It will be a great way to source information on pet care and the programme will suit pet enthusiasts of all ages in a fun way”.

Alex Petrilli, Head Dog Trainer at the DSPCA said of the event, “We’re thrilled to be supporting Pets in the City, it promises to be a lively, interactive day out at Smithfield Square, right in the heart of Dublin. We always welcome the opportunity to help people take the very best care of their animals through micro chipping and advice”.
