Enterprise Centre in Mulhuddart to help define new era for remote working
A new era for remote working facilities was initiated in today with the launch of remote working facilities at the redesigned and reinvigorated Base Enterprise Centre in Mulhuddart by Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar.
One of the first of its kind, Base is providing two NEW remote working hubs, a remote working meeting room with the latest IT and 24 hour access to post and working space for distance work.
Sustainability developments include the provision of electric car charging and 30 solar panels to reduce running costs. Outside the building swift nesting boxes have been installed to the front cladding above the entrance with a swift caller to attract nesting colonies and the greening of the fence line with pollinator plants and shrubs.
Accessibility has been emphasised in the design and the building has been provided with a modern, welcoming reception area.
Base will be one of the first centres to use a new, free “use and try” voucher scheme introduced by Minister Heather Humphreys this week. The scheme will make 10,000 try-out hot desk working days available to hub users around the country. Individuals at Base in Mulhddart and other centres are encouraged to try the service before they buy.
Speaking at the opening, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said: “The pandemic changed our perception of how to live and work. We discovered that many jobs can be done remotely and that hybrid working patterns can radically improve quality of life without damaging productivity or decreasing output. If you live in the Dublin 15 area, I encourage you to check out these excellent facilities in Base. Employers should think about how they can facilitate remote working for employees, or consider using Remote Working Hubs as alternatives to the regular office.”
Chairperson of Base Enterprise Centre CLG Jim Cuddy said: “since 1995 Base has been at the forefront in the creation of employment and support of small and medium enterprises in especially in Dublin 15. Everything has changed in the past three years, but we continue to innovate. Today we continue our leadership role in the rapidly changing, post-pandemic work environment by launching facilities for Remote Workers.”
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Howard Mahony said “the modernisation work on this building and the expansion of its services to business and community here in Dublin 15 is testimony to our continuing commitment to the ideals of the late Michael Galvin and the first pioneering board of BASE and their mission to make a difference.”
Chief Executive of Fingal Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, said “the entrepreneurs and business creators who are present here today who have chosen Base as their home represent the diversity of modern Ireland and the creative energy across a range of sectors from Food, Medical Services to Technology that will shape our economic future.”
Ms Farrelly is familiar with the project from its inception as she is a former chair of the Base board.
