BANKSIDE BOARD ACADEMY AWARD® WINNER TERRY GEORGE’S POLITICAL THRILLER CEASEFIRE STARRING CHRIS O’DOWD, JANE FONDA, CIARÁN HINDS, JOHN C REILLY & TOM HOLLANDER

Bankside Films has announced that it has acquired Academy Award® Winner, BAFTA Award nominee Terry George’s political thriller CEASEFIRE for worldwide sales ahead of the Cannes Film Festival. George will direct and has also written the screenplay.  CEASEFIRE will shoot in Ireland later this year.

Academy Award® Winning, BAFTA Award nominated writer / director Terry George’s credits include HOTEL RWANDA, IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SOME MOTHER’S SON, THE PROMISE and THE SHORE.

 

The film is set to star Emmy Award Winning, BAFTA Award nominee Chris O’Dowd (STATE OF THE UNION, MARY POPPINS RETURNS, MOLLY’S GAME, MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, CALVARY, BRIDESMAIDS), Academy Award®, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Winner Jane Fonda (BOOK CLUB, YOUTH, ON GOLDEN POND, COMING HOME, KLUTE), Academy Award®, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Nominee Ciarán Hinds (BELFAST, THE WOMAN IN BLACK, TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY), Academy Award®, Golden Globe Nominee John C. It is the true story of a courageous Irish-American journalist who gambles everything to broker a secret backchannel between the Irish Republican Army and a wary Clinton administration… But as bombings, political betrayal, and mistrust close in, he risks his life to secure a lasting ceasefire between the deadliest enemies.

 

CEASEFIRE is produced by BAFTA Award Nominee Trevor Birney for Fine Point Films (SAIPAN, KNEECAP, NO STONE UNTURNED) and Patrick O’Neill for Wildcard (SAIPAN, KNEECAP).
