Dublin’s Annual Kite Fest Launches

Kite fliers and spectators of all ages will experience a visual feast as the seventh annual Dublin Kite Festival soars into town on Sunday 9th June next on Dollymount Strand, North Bull Island, Clontarf. Brought to you by Dublin City Council, this event offers free entertainment all day long and is the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday with family and friends.

This year’s Dublin Kite Fest will attract thousands of visitors from Dublin and across Ireland and is sure to be an invigorating event from start to finish. The Festival will challenge kite enthusiasts to show off their stunt skills and compete for a number of awards across a wide range of categories including; most aerodynamic kite, most beautiful kite and funniest kite of the day.

Speaking about Dublin Kite Festival 2019, Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring said, “The Kite Festival is one of Dublin’s most colourful annual events and I invite families from across the city to come along to Dollymount Strand on Sunday and take to the skies!”

Kathryn Byrne, Event Manager of the Dublin Kite Festival said, “We are thrilled that the Dublin Kite Fest is returning to North Bull Island for it’s seventh year! We all need to get outside, get active and have fun – and the Dublin Kite Festival is the perfect opportunity for all ages to enjoy a day on the beach.

Byrne continued, “Kite flying is one of those great family activities that everyone can enjoy, from our youngest children to our most senior! Whether you’re a kite enthusiast or a novice, Dublin Kite Festival is a guaranteed great day out.”

Don’t worry if you’ve never flown a kite – or if you can’t remember the last time you did – because there will be plenty of kite flying experts on hand to get you off the ground! With international kite masters, lively music, exciting games, kite making workshops, a kite flying competition and buckets of enthusiasm you’re sure to have a great day at Dublin Kite Festival 2019.
