Social Media Saves Lives Says US Counter Terror Specialist

Officer Chris Adamczyk of Mesa Police Department in Phoenix Arizona, a counter terror specialist leveraging social media analytics for crime investigations, will address 150 of Ireland’s leading public sector communications managers at The Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit in the Mansion House today (Thursday).

Addressing the Summit, Officer Adamczyk said, “Real time monitoring of big data is vital for real-time emergency response. It’s something we really never envisioned, but now that we are here, we really can’t back out of it. Embracing social media can save lives.” Listen here

The sold out summit is set to take a forensic look at how Ireland’s public sector is undergoing a digital transformation with in-house marketing and communication staff embracing social media and digital communications.

Joanne Sweeney-Burke, founder of the Summit says, “Today’s event will be a watershed moment for those attending. I am convinced that there will be a deeper understanding and a greater realisation that digital transformation must pick up speed and sophistication in Ireland’s public sector.”

“There is clearly an appetite for this when Ireland’s first Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit sold out a week before the event took place. The elevation of skills and increasing knowledge capacity within public sector organisations will be critical to their relevance in the digital age.”

“We hear a lot of the culture of public sector organisations in the media in particular, but a digital first mindset will inevitably change culture because to be successful you need to step into the shoes of the citizen and provide them with the transparency and depth of information they demand in the Digital Age.”

Sweeney-Burke will open today’s Summit with a keynote address on why trust is the number one currency online while Director of Communications with An Garda Síochána, Andrew McLindon will tell the audience the real value for policing in having a social media strategy. The 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Brexit, the HPV vaccine, Storm Emma and many more critical public interest topics will be discussed but in the context of social media and public engagement.

The Public Sector Digital Marketing Summit has been devised for senior decision makers, managers, marketing, PR, digital, web, social media or communications professionals in the public sector including Government departments, health service, tourism, local authorities, education bodies, policing, political staff, local enterprise offices and non-commercial state agencies.

The one day event will see leading innovators and public sector marketing professionals and journalists converge for a series of panel debates, practical case studies, and individual keynotes.
